Bluebeam, an alternative to PDF

Even if you're in academia or industry, you'll need to use PDF files on daily basis for specifications, codes, articles and for other career related stuff. Sometimes other PDF application can cause trouble and you'll need to write in word, convert it into PDF and then merge files.

At mu first industry job, first day my co-workers told me they prefer to use a software for Bluebeam Revu for PDF applications. It is not very different from other PDF applications at first. You'll be able to use it immediately.

The beauty comes once you start using it for other stuff such as;

1. You can merge documents, just by dragging relevant file into the specific pages you want it to appear.

2. A page can be extracted and saved as some other document.

3. Texts can be added by only hitting "T" on keyboard, in any color, size, format, with a background filling etc. This gives flexibility and saves a lot of time when a word needs to be modified.

4. You can use the text application and select white background filing and hide wrong/unwanted information.

5. Page numbers can be added as as a header/footer at any location with any font (just like in word).

6. Links within the documents or other documents can be added to a word or sentence (totally a life saver).

7. Shapes, arrows "a", rectangles "r" can be added at a choice of color.

8. On one screen, 2 different pages can be kept next to each other, an easy solution if you don't have access to a second monitor.

9. Measurement: Even though this can be tricky, I sometimes use it to measure distances on a file. If one specific dimension is given, you can calibrate the measurement and measure a missing dimension. If you do so please confirm the sizes with your contractor.

10. You can add stamps and signatures only with 1 click once you have it saved.

For the reasons I mentioned above, I highly recommend it. Feel free to contact me if there's anything I can help with on this topic.
